First Week in The Field!!

Hola familia y amigos!
Hi mom:)

Well it is my p-day today, time goes so fast out here!! I got to Houston safe and it has been an amazing experience so far! I can't wait for all the adventures that are to come! My mission president here is President Mortensen and he is amazing!! He grew up in Bountiful so that is pretty crazy! He really is an amazing president, and this mission is going so well because of Him and his leadership. I met my trainer on Thursday, Elder Jorquera!! He is an amazing trainer and I know that he is definitely one of the reasons that I was sent here to Houston. I have already learned so much from Him. He is so smart and knows a lot about the gospel, and teaching and I really am going to learn a lot. He is originally from Chile but now is from Colorado Springs. So it is awesome because I have a native companion and I feel like my Spanish is going to grow a lot because of it!!

After i got my trainer we got our area's, mine is Katy, Texas!! However, our apartment wasn't ready yet so we had to go room with two other elders. We spent two days there waiting for our apartment, staying in their little apartment and sleeping on the floor. hahah! I was a little upset because I wanted to get to my area. But it turned out to be a miracle! So many great experience happened while we were staying with those Elders. One was, the first day me and Elder Jorquera didn't have much to do because it wasn't our area, so we just went knocking. And the first door I knocked on in Spanish, they let us in and we taught them and set up an appointment for two days from then to teach them more! Elder Jorquera said that never happens to Greenies!!! I was so pumped and we continued to have success that day and so many miracles happened. We had to turn over our little Cuban family to the Elders in the area when we left, so that kinda sucked. But it was still awesome!

On Saturday afternoon we finally got to move into our apartment. It is so nice! However, we have no furniture so we are still studying, eating, and sleeping on the floor! Preparing me for Argentina!! haha so lets just say i haven't slept in a bed for about a week. But the floor is way comfy! I feel like patcha... :) We got all settled in and planned the rest of the day. Then we had church the next day, and it was my first day all in spanish! It was so cool, even though i didn't understand it all i still felt the spirit like crazy. I love the ward here. They are all so nice and ready to help the missionaries. As members that is our job, to help the missionaries, whether it is going out teaching with them or feeding them, that is how we do our missionary work, and they are really good at it!

It has been an amazing week, and I can't wait to learn more about this work and this area. Keep up the good work back home, and find ways to help the missionaries and be a missionary! There is nothing like the joy you get from it! Love you all!!

Oh!! Dad is going to love this so add it to the email!
We went and ate with members, the Rocha family, on Sunday and they made us fish! and I actually really liked it... So we will see if I like fish now! haha!

I love and miss you all so much. Got to go now. Talk to you next week :)

Transfer

Hey Mom so me and Elder Bliss got our transfer plans, we are going to the Houston Texas Mission!! We are both going together so that is nice, and we leave Wednesday (23rd) morning at 8:45, so i can probably call you guys sometime in that time period. If you can get my Visa in and try and get it so i can get to Argentina still try and to do that. If not w will see what happens. Still not exactly sure on the details of the mission, or even the language but looks like I will be headed to Texas! Yup so there is that! Love you!

MTC Life

Hola familia!

This week was a pretty tough week because we got our travel plans last friday, and my VISA still hasn't come yet, and if it doesn't come in the next couple of days then I will have to be reassigned to a different mission until it comes. That was really hard for me at first. I have been thinking about Argentina for a long time, and it was hard to think I may not be going there. It was really hard for me. However i can testify that the Lord will always answer our prayers. I prayed for a long time for comfort and peace, and I know that if i am reassigned somewhere for a little bit it is because somebody somewhere needs me personally to come and bring them unto Christ. I know that I may be the only person that can help this person, and so if I am reassigned I will work as hard as I can to find them. So this week has been really tough, but then turned out really good because I learned so much about how the Lord works and that we are truly on His errand and that if we just try to be more like Christ and just say, "not my will but thine be done." Then Heavenly Father will be able to put us into the path of those that needs us to touch their lives. I can't wait to get to where ever I am going and serve the people with all my heart might mind and strength so that when the day comes Christ can tell me that He is proud of me.
That is one thing I have really learned since being out here, in preach my gospel it talks about how we need to work our hardest everyday so that the Lord can bless other's through us. Every time I get down I just think about Christ. I wear His name everyday on my Chest. I represent Him. He didn't up. And neither will I. Just imagine what would've happened had He given up. I can't wait to get out into the field and share this wonderful message of My Friend, My Lord, and My Brother, Jesus Christ.
I love this gospel so much. I love my Savior. And i am so excited to go represent Him. Thanks for all you do!!
Con amor,
Elder Stuart

MTC Life

Hey family!! This week was also really good!! I love it here in the MTC, but the only bad thing is it makes you so anxious to actually get into the field and teach real people. I can't wait to actually get out there and be able to teach the people of Argentina! I get my Flight Plans on Friday!!! I am so excited! I will leave monday september 21 so i am super excited for that! Hopefully my Visa comes... haha!! We can't check to see if our visa comes until after we have our flight plans so that kinda sucks... so hopefully i have mine! Oh and we found out that I can get letters in argentina, just not packages.

last Thursday I finished the Book of Mormon while being here at the MTC. It was such an amazing experience to be able to read it while I have been here. I had a testimony of it before I left, but I have an even greater testimony of it now. I love it so much!!!! It truly answers any question that we have, we just have to go into reading with a question in our mind and read and pray about it SINCERELY. I promise that if you do this you will receive an answer to your question WHEN Christ is ready to give it to you. He works on His time, Not yours. Always remember that. He will always answer, just when the timing is right.

On monday we got to do a Skype lesson with a member from Neuquen Argentina!!! It was so cool to be able to talk with and teach a native! I loved it!! it made me so excited to be able to get there and serve the wonderful people of Argentina!

Lastly, I have come to realize even more in the mtc that without God we truly are nothing. He is our strength. He is our power behind all that we do. And if we pray and invite Him to be with us at all times, then He will be there to help us with anything. If you are going through hard times, don't think He is not there, He always is. We just have to search for Him.

Another great week down here at the mtc, and less than two weeks left!! I am so excited. I love and miss you all so much. Hasta Pronto.

Con Amor,
Elder Stuart

Hola!

Hola mi familia y amigos!!

This week has been a pretty great week so far! Nothing really changes because we have the same schedule every week so I will just share some of my favorite moments of this week!! First off we had a lesson with our TRC investigator, Mercedes, and it went amazing!!! Half way through teaching the plan of salvation me and Elder Lloyd decided to sing "I am a child of God" to her. The spirit was so strong and she started to tear up. (even though i can't sing... good thing Elder Lloyd can and he carried us!) But i learned how much music and simple doctrine can really help someone. Just those simple words were able to bring our investigator so much joy knowing she had a loving Heavenly Father who wanted her back with Him. She wants to be baptized but still wants to know more so that is really cool!!! The language is coming along pretty good and I can usually understand what someone is saying, and I am getting better at being able to convey my feelings! The only way this is possible is through the Power of the Holy Ghost. Without Him. I am nothing. He is the teacher, and I am merely the instrument that He can work through. I love teaching people and helping them feel of their Heavenly Fathers love for them.

My second point is about the Tuesday night devotional, Elder Oaks of the 12 came and spoke to us!!! I felt like a celebrity was among us!! It was so exciting and so good and I just wanted to pull as much out of it as I could. The things that stood out to me the most was A the importance of the Sacrament. The sacrament is how we renew our covenants with God and become new again. Next time you take the sacrament really focus on the blessings that are in there if we strive to be more like Christ. Elder Oaks said that every member should know the sacrament prayer by heart. Becasue this is the way to become clean again and renew covenants so we can return to our Father in Heaven. The second thing I learned is that we must always teach with power and be worthy to teach of that power. No matter how good of a teacher and speaker i may be, i will never be successful without Divine help. This makes me think of one of my favorite scriptures, Alma 26:12, i encourage you all to read that and live it. I am trying to do the same. Those are just a few points of his talk that i loved.

Finally I am almost finished with the Book of Mormon!!! I can defintiely see the blessings in my life that have come from this. I started when I got here, and anytime that I have a question about anything i go into my studies thinking about that question and it is ALWAYS answered. The book of Mormon contains all the answers to life. If you need help with anything go to the Book of Mormon. Strive to read it daily. I can promise that you will see blessings in your life because of it.

I am having so much fun here and I feel so much joy because I am surrounded by the spirit and my Savior Jesus Christ. Knowing that and that I have his name on my chest over my heart brings so much comfort. I know that He lives and wants to help us always. He is there always. All we have to do is pray and ask. He literally is just a prayer away. When life gets too hard to stand... Fall to your knees. The power of guidance and the atonement are there for us to take if we only ask in faith. I love you all and thank you all for your letters and emails, i will try and write you all back as much as i can. Hopefully some of my words will touch your hearts and answer your questions, because i know yours do that for me.

Hasta Pronto. Con amor,
Elder Stuart
